Van Hire

We offer 4 sizes of commercial van:

• Midi van = compact van (such as Vauxhall Combo)
• SWB van = standard short wheelbase, low-roof Transit Custom style van (such as Vauxhall Vivaro)
• LWB van = long wheelbase, high-roof van (such as Ford Transit L3H2)
• Luton tail-lift van = our largest vehicle is a box van with 4-metre load length and electric tail-lift.

You can collect from 7.30am onwards at our depot located between St Albans and Radlett.

We have on-site parking, so you can leave your own car with us when renting a van (in which case, you must return during office hours to collect your vehicle, as it will be locked behind gates when we are closed).

Vans are due back by 7.30am and can be returned overnight when we are closed, as you can park the van on our forecourt and use our secure out-of-hours key return. For weekend hires, the van is due back by 7.30am on Monday but you are welcome to drop off on Sunday and post the key.

All prices include VAT and insurance. There is a mileage cap of 250 miles for 1-day hires. For longer hires the mileage is unlimited (or for hires of 4 weeks or more there is a limit of 2,500 miles in a 4-week period). Courier use is not permitted. Vans may not be driven outside the UK.

If you are needing to transport large items or large quantities of items, then your personal car may not provide the space and safety required to securely move the load to its new destination. Using a van is a much safer, easier and popular way of transporting heavy loads, and Traffic Self Drive have a range of vans for hire that suit this role perfectly.

Our fleet of vans encompasses a range of sizes, but what remains constant is the high quality of the vehicles. Whether you need our small van hire service to transport some boxes to your office, or our large van hire service to move some furniture to your new house, we can provide you with a fully maintained vehicle that suits your requirements. Our vans are available for one day hire or for multiple weeks, with lower rates for longer hire periods and unlimited mileage is included for hires of 2 days or more. Traffic Self Drive operates in the areas of St Albans, Harpenden and Radlett.

For customers using our vans to transport items to the dump (i.e. recycling centres) we will provide you with paperwork that allows our vans to be taken into the dump for disposing of domestic waste.
